PDI Technician – Heywood Van PDI Centre


We currently have an opportunity for a PDI Technician to join our team at our Mercedes-Benz Van PDI Centre in Heywood, Manchester.

About the Role

We currently have an opportunity for a PDI Technician to join our team at our Mercedes-Benz Van PDI Centre in Heywood, Manchester.

The hours you would be working are to be confirmed, but expected to be 40 basic hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will be expected to be flexible, overtime may be available as and when required and a Full Clean UK Driving Licence will also be required as the role may include driving to and from other nearby Roanza sites.

As a PDI Technician you will be responsible for the ensuring vehicles meet the expected standard of the Mercedes Benz brand, prior to customer demonstration or delivery of new vehicles. The PDI Technician will carry out pre-delivery inspections and diagnosis, following specific criteria you will complete all checks and appropriate documentation.

You will be paid £9.49 per hour. Overtime is paid at time and half of your basic hourly rate of pay. We offer 30 paid day’s holiday per year and extra days issued at your 5 and 10 yr points, plus pension and other Company benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete PDI and rectification work where required in accordance with Company and Customer procedures and Quality Standards.
  • At all times follow procedures and to work to high quality standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is checked and safe before using, reporting any discrepancies to the Technical Team leader
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated as required and records maintained.
  • Sign out and return to stores any tooling or equipment as required.
  • Attend daily Team Talk as required. Pre-delivery inspections (PDI)
  • Road test vehicles as required
  • Checking and topping up oil, water levels etc
  • To carry out basic vehicle maintenance, including the use of diagnostic equipment
  • The use of measuring equipment, i.e. torque wrench and tyre gauges
  • General understanding of vehicle mechanics
  • Ability to maintain a safe and productive work environment
  • Identify faults/damage and record findings electronically or hand written
  • Follow and understand a manufacturers inspection check list
  • Work as a team with positive and open communication to assist the smooth work flow

About the Person

Skills and Experience required for this role are:

  • Hold a Full City & Guilds qualifications required - certified technician in an automotive service field.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers and staff.
  • Ability to accurately record all relevant information.
  • To hold a relevant current driving licence.
